    The role and responsibilities

    Role Overview

    As Development Engineer, you will be keen to broaden your experience beyond engineering design, gaining exposure to the full scope of site development. This includes considering factors such as ecology, arboriculture, building regulations, brand aesthetics, and value engineering as part of a holistic design approach.

    Responsibilities include preparing Technical Feasibility Reports for new developments, identifying design risks and technical constraints, conducting buildability and regulatory compliance reviews and providing value engineering recommendations. You will review and coordinate technical aspects of planning applications, support due diligence processes in collaboration with the wider Land & Planning team and attend site visits and meetings with internal and external stakeholders.

    Please note: This role focuses on reviewing and critiquing third-party consultant designs—no hands-on design work is required.

    Skills & Experience

    This position is well suited to candidates with a HND or degree in Civil Engineering, or those with 3–5 years of relevant industry experience.

    Experience with Bluebeam PDF Editor (desirable).
    Strong organisational and communication skills.
    Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively.
    Detail-oriented with strong time management and deadline awareness.

  • Senior Technical Coordinator

    The role and responsibilities

    Role Overview

    The Senior Technical Coordinator manages the technical process from planning handover through the construction and sales process, ensuring timely, accurate information to support Bargate’s bespoke homebuilding standards.

    The role involves coordinating consultants including architectural, structural, civil, and M&E teams, reviewing and approving drawings and technical information, and ensuring design information is coordinated and issued on time. It includes managing RFIs, technical queries, and design risks, conducting buildability reviews, coordinating utilities, foundations, drainage, and infrastructure, and supporting value engineering while maintaining compliance.

    Responsibilities also cover attending site and technical meetings, resolving on-site technical issues, supporting variations and specification changes, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and warranty requirements, managing Building Control submissions, supporting inspections and closing out technical issues, and maintaining registers, trackers, progress reports, and monitoring design progress against programme milestones.

    Skills & Experience

    Strong residential technical knowledge, ability to coordinate multidisciplinary drawings, understanding of regulations and compliance.

    HNC/HND or Degree in relevant construction discipline.
    Professional membership desirable.
    Full UK driving licence.
