• Construction is underway at Horizon Wood, Pennington

    We have officially commenced construction at Horizon Wood in Pennington, following clearance and groundworks. Our 90-home residential scheme will deliver a mix of open-market and affordable homes, alongside extensive green open space.

    Located off Milford Road, the 15.8-acre scheme will provide a range of one- to four-bedroom homes, with a variety of affordable housing being delivered in partnership with VIVID, Hampshire’s largest not-for-profit provider of affordable homes. Nearly two-thirds of the site will be dedicated to preserved habitats, wildflower planting and public open space.

    Its location places future residents close to the Solent and just a mile from Lymington, combining village and coastal living with easy access to the New Forest, Southampton, and the wider Hampshire and Dorset area.

The development will deliver a carefully considered mix of homes, from one-bedroom properties to larger family houses, supporting a broad range of local housing needs in a highly desirable location close to both the coast and the New Forest.

    “Sustainability sits at the heart of the scheme. These homes will achieve high EPC ratings and sit within a landscape enriched with new habitats, green space, walking routes and green corridors. Our aim is to create a development that feels genuinely rooted in its setting, with a thoughtful mix of homes for a wide range of residents.”

    The layout has been designed to reflect the character of Pennington, with lower-density housing, generous landscaping and extensive public open space throughout the development. The architectural approach draws from local materials and detailing, including red brick, render, timber cladding and traditional chimneys.

    Pennington offers village amenities, pubs, cafés and access to Pennington Common, while nearby Lymington provides independent shops, a historic quay and rail links to London Waterloo via Brockenhurst.

    The start of construction at Horizon Wood follows the recent launch of our Shepherds Green development in Hordle, Bargate’s 100th development. Earlier this year, Bargate retained its five-star rating in the national Home Builders Federation Customer Satisfaction Survey and received a 2026 Gold Award from In-House Research.

  • Bargate partners with Voice FM to support its weekly House & Home show

    We are proud to announce a new partnership with Southampton community radio station Voice FM, becoming the official sponsor of its weekly House & Home show with Chris Schutrups.

    The six-month partnership, which begins in July, sees support the weekly property and housing show while helping bring discussions around homes, communities, planning and the property market to a wider audience across Southampton and Hampshire.

    Broadcast every Monday from 2pm to 3pm, House & Home is hosted by well-known local property expert Chris Schutrups. The programme covers a wide range of topics relating to home ownership, housing, property trends and community issues.

    As part of the partnership, representatives from Bargate will join the show routinely to share insights into the housebuilding industry, guidance for newbuild homes, sustainability, and details of our new and very latest communities being delivered across the South.

    The sponsorship will also include community events, online content, social media activity and regular contributions from Bargate, helping listeners gain a greater understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the housing sector.
