The changes in taxation for people buying homes to let were not unexpected, but I don’t believe they will inhibit the demand in investing in tangible assets such as as bricks and mortar. We are particularly keen to see how far the planning reforms, announced on Friday, will go in redressing the systematic shortfall in housing over many years. Will the Government actually deliver what they have long promised? We do welcome any measure which allows those people who work hard to be able to own their own homes. I’ve always believed that the British are a nation of property owners, so I was pleased to hear the extra £175,000 Inheritance Tax allowance for people to pass on their homes to their children.
