Ashwood is tucked away snugly on the fringes of Medstead, Hampshire, where the woodland meets the heath – and where nature’s doorstep meets your own.
It’s a slower pace of life, but by no means a reduction to the bare necessities: quite the opposite, in fact. And as secluded, peaceful and relaxing as it may be, Ashwood isn’t an isolated wilderness. You’re never too far from anything, with speedy road routes to Winchester, Basingstoke and Guildford that keep you connected to the hustle and bustle.
The village hosts a vibrant community, and an excellent range of leisure opportunities including bowls, tennis and cricket clubs amongst a wealth of local shops and businesses. The well-regarded Medstead Church of England Primary School lies immediately south of the village, within close proximity to Butterflies Preschool, and minutes’ drive from Eggar’s secondary in nearby Alton.
The market town of Alton lies only 4.3 miles northeast of the village, offering a wider selection of shops, restaurants and hotels. There’s also a choice of supermarkets, high street stores and independent traders. Further connections are easily found, with Junction 7 of the M3 is less than 11 miles from Ashwood, and the M25 accessible in around 40 minutes. From Alton railway station, trains leave for Farnham, Woking and London approximately every 30 minutes, with the journey to London Waterloo taking just over an hour.
