Local Area

Winchester is one of the most diverse cities in Hampshire. It lies in the middle of the county of Hampshire and its architecture, history and communication links have made it one of the most desirable areas in which to live.

The city is packed with major stores and individual boutiques. The choice of restaurants, bistros and bars will satisfy everyone. The museums, family attractions, art galleries and parks provide both locals and tourists with entertainment.

Winchester railway station offers a direct line service, in an hour and seven minutes, to London Waterloo. Stagecoach  runs the buses to all the surrounding towns, as far afield as Petersfield and Fareham. The M3 motorway, approximately 20 minutes drive away gives access to both London and the South Coast along with Southampton Airport, located at Eastleigh.

There are several schools from which to choose, both for primary and secondary education, state and private, and a university for further education.

This city was the former capital of England, known under the Romans as Venta Belgarum, and before that an oppidum during the Iron Age.  The Cathedral is one of the longest in Europe. The Itchen River once provided a water link to Southampton but has now been restored to a wildlife corridor, and this with the glorious surrounding countryside and parks provide a great backdrop for a perfect lifestyle.
